Types of Vehicle Registrations at RTO Bihar:
To register a vehicle in Bihar, the applicant must make an application using the prescribed forms to the District Transport Office in their region. The same must be done within 7 days of vehicle purchase during the working hours of the DTO/RTO. Here are the steps for registering your vehicle in Bihar. - Temporary Registration
There are benefits to temporary registration of vehicles because this provides a time period in which the vehicle owner can apply for permanent registration. This time period is usually of a month in which the owner needs to apply for Permanent Registration to the respective RTO.
- Permanent Registration
As per the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, it is illegal for a vehicle to drive without a valid registration. To obtain a permanent registration, the owner can apply on Bihar RTO Online site or can visit a Panchayat Awam or Millet Court and go through the process of applying for an RC. You need to have valid insurance certificate with you at the time of application.
- Duplicate Registration

- The documents required for vehicle registration are Form 20-application form, Form 21-sales certificate, Form 22-Roadworthy certificate, insurance, passport-size photos of the driver, invoice of the vehicle issued by the vehicle dealer, Pan details, and address proof of the driver
- Other documents which may be required are clearance certificate for vehicles imported, STA design and registration certificate taken temporarily
